Professional experience for MSc in Management students – My ESSEC experience

The program MSc is a two to
three year program which includes eighteen months of personal experience
which can be either internships, apprenticeships or having worked
before coming to ESSEC. A lot of students coming without having
work experience and get more internship experience
that’s something to have on their CV
when they apply for jobs after graduation. I think that’s something that’s important that not all schools have. When you are
designing your career path you are not alone because there will be a tutor right beside you, who will advice you about your internship choices, about your
orientation and even about some life issues. My first internship will be at Louis Vuitton in Paris and it will be at the marketing and
merchandising department. This is a great opportunity for me because I will
learn more about working in the luxury corporation, specifically in
marketing which is what I would like to do in the future. Six months at Louis Vuitton should
provide me a a solid foundation to continue my studies at ESSEC also to
look for a future career in the industry. Right now I’m doing an internship that
will last six months. That’s with a startup company so
it’s exciting, there is always something new to learn. I am doing marketing for them,
for their US customers. I was searching for internships but
they actually found my CV on ESSEC’s website, and contacted me. I got this opportunity
to finance my education. The apprenticeship track is a special
track, where companies hire young graduates and the young graduates work with the company and in return the company pays for
the tuition fees and also a regulated salary which is regulated by law in France. It’s a great opportunity do to jumpstart you career or even if you
want to change fields from engineering to finance, it’s one of
the best you can have in France. I’m currently doing an
apprenticeship. I am at Pooch, which is a Spanish company in perfumes and fashion. I am working at operational marketing as
an assistant for the Nina Ricci project manager. I just started in January
actually. The benefits of apprenticeship are first of all: you get an experience,
it’s a two your contact so you get a lot of experience and secondly you do it
in really good companies that will later on give you the opportunity to get
a job maybe in those companies or you have a good cv for
other companies. You’re able to build a professional network because you’re working with
professionals and are really involved the project you’re working in. You’re staying
one year, one year and a half working in the same place with the
same people. So you’re able to build a real
professional network. You are part of the team and have the same responsibilities.
So I think once I finish, I won’t have a problem
finding a job
