“Peer and instructor support is unparalleled” – Sheila Malec on the Part-Time MSW Program

What I liked about the program is the peer
support and the instructor support that you get. There are some things that you share
in the classroom that can be a little emotional, that can be a little challenging, and by and
large, I’ve found that the instructor and the peer support that you get is unparalleled–it
helps me, I look forward to class on Saturdays because it helps me get through my next work
week. Balancing a full time job, a part time job, a household, and children, along with
going to school has actually been made a lot easier by being able to go to school on Saturdays.
You know, just when you think that you’ve been in the field for a while and that you
have these things all figured out and just know how this is gonna go, you walk into the
classroom and through peer experiences that are shared, instructor experiences that are
shared, you’re learning something else. It’s absolutely a myriad of experiences and knowledge
that comes together to form what you have when you leave, and as I said, it’s leaving
here with the absolute necessary tools to be able to go forward in this career field.
I honestly can’t say enough about the program. I mean, it’s just, in terms of helping me
meet my professional goals, in terms of helping me meet my personal goals, and how I would
like to live out my self-actualization in my life, I can’t say enough about the program
itself and the instructors.
