I remember when I first realised that I wanted to be a teacher. I was a Girl Scout at the time and in order to earn a badge, I needed to teach somebody something. I had the opportunity to go to a younger troop’s meeting and I was able to teach them some French. I remember the feeling I had as I looked
around the room and listened to those girls speaking in French. Today, I don’t teach French. I teach maths instead. But I absolutely love the challenge of teaching maths and I love watching my students grow, learn and change over the year. I believe that every child deserves an effective teacher in every classroom every year. And not only should they have effective teachers but I believe that our students deserve to have teachers from diverse backgrounds. It’s my hope that every child will
get the chance to learn and be prepared for their future.
