How to Stop Bringing Work Stress Home and Have a more nurturing home life

Hello I’m Larissa halls and welcome back
to Tuesday’s tiny tips of the week. I’m the creator of everyday inspiration.com.au and a big part of my job is to help people balance stress! That’s why
today’s topic is all about how to avoid bringing your work stress home it’s
easier said than done but think about it if you had a day at the beach and you
didn’t wash off before you came home and you trapsed around the house and even
went to bed with all the sand still over you it’s not very comfortable. It’s the
same thing as when we have the stressful energy in our workplace and we bring it
all home it’s not very comfortable for the people that we live with. We
usually take out our work stress out on the people we love the most!
How is that even fair? So here’s just three really simple basic tips on how to
leave some of your work stress at work. The first thing is before you leave
work actually do a brain dump, just write everything down on a piece of paper or
your work diary that you haven’t completed that day. Maybe things that you’re worried about or maybe write a few sentences just venting about what has really annoyed you during that day. Then you can leave it all at work and start fresh the
next day. The second thing is when you get home
change into home clothes or your comfiest clothes. Then your mind signals
the difference between work and home. I actually have a studio where I work
from home and when I have a client I change into my work clothes and after
my client I wash my hands and if it’s the end of the day I wash my face and I take
off my work clothes and I get into my home clothes, which I’ve got on at the
moment. It’s a really nice way to differentiate between work and home
energetically with your clothes. The third and last thing is SET BOUNDARIES.
So if you’re somebody where you need to answer phone calls or check emails
because of your work maybe set a timer and deadlines at home where you won’t
answer those calls. If I get a text which is at 10 o’clock at night and
sometimes 5:00 in the morning I quite often won’t answer them until work hours. If you go to my contacts page on my website then you’ll see that even on the weekend I
say I won’t answer emails over the weekend because I’m out having fun with
my family. So if you want to work to live and not live to work there is a couple of
tips that you can do in your daily life that are just so simple. Sometimes
it’s the little things that can add up to big things. If you haven’t liked
