How to Report on Employee Internet Usage During Work Hours

Fastvue Reporter enables you to filter
reports and alerts by hours in the day. To do this, go to the Reports tab,
select your report type and open the Filters interface. Select the Hour field, Equal to, and then select the
hours that correspond to your usual work hours. In this case, I will select all the hours between 8 am
and 5pm, excluding 12 pm for lunch breaks. To make this easier, you can save this filter as ‘Work Hours’, and then use the ‘load filter’ button to select work hours when running future reports. You can also use the ‘Not Equal to’ operator
to create a filter for ‘Non-Work Hours’ if you need to report on what is happening on
machines when people are not at work. These filters can be applied to either Overview Reports to view summarised bandwidth, productivity, firewall and network information, or Activity Reports to view a chronological list of
browsing sessions with full URLs and timestamps. To get started, head to fastvue.co and download the free 30 day trial of the Fastvue Reporter product for your firewall. You’ll be up and running in minutes.
