English Tutor Nick P Noun Phrase (3) Nose Job

Hi this is Tutor Nick P and this is
Noun Phrase 3. The noun phrase today is nose job. Okay. Let’s take a look at the note. The
noun phrase refers to someone who has plastic surgery to improve the
appearance of one’s nose. This is the most common way that we usually hear it
referred to. Let’s continue. The more formal term for nose job is rhinoplasty . You
don’t hear that much. Most people know nose job and they’ll say nose job. I’ve heard
a number of comedians sometimes make fun of the term rhinoplasty because
you know we all know the animal a rhino a rhinoceros you know has a big
nose and they’re joking did they really have to choose that name for this type
of operation. But, but anyway the far majority of people just say nose job. And
rhinoplasty sounds a little technical. I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a lot
of people out there that may not recognize this term. So nose job is the
more common one that you are probably going to hear. All right. Let’s continue. We also use the term boob job for a
breast enhancement. While a breast enhancement means a breast enlargement.
So if women wanted to make their breasts bigger. Yeah. I give you this one because
these are the two that actually uses the word ‘job’ in it. So we do say nose job and
a boob job. But you know don’t get carried away. Don’t start saying eye job or
chin job or lip job. We don’t say that. So mostly we say nose job and we say boob
job. Remember boob is a slang for a woman’s breast. So that’s why they say
boob job. Okay let’s continue. Let’s go look at the examples. Example one. After
she had a nose job it really improved her looks. A lot prettier, Yeah. Number two, it is not uncommon
for many Hollywood actresses to have nose jobs and boob jobs.
Yeah. They have a lot of plastic surgery. Okay.
Anyway, I hope it is clear. I hope you got it. Thank you for your time. Bye-bye.
