16 Hobbies that Make Money – How $72,052 per Year is Within Reach 🧙‍♂️

– Making extra money is great, it allows you to put more money to fun or financial goals. But what if you could make more money, doing something you love? Today we’re talking about
hobbies that make money. (light, upbeat music) Hi, I’m Marissa with DollarSprout. While most people think that making money means working with a nine to five, more people are learning
that it really is possible to make money doing something you love, even making money from a hobby. I’ve even done this myself. I took my hobby of budgeting and created a downloadable
budget template to sell on Etsy. Whether they make a few
hundred dollars a month or a few thousand, people
have started side hustles to pay off debt, boost emergency funds, save for travel, or invest in the future. Now, not all hobbies are great for bringing in extra income,
but plenty of them are. Here are 16 hobbies and
skills that make money, and you can use to help turn
your passions into cash. The first hobby that
you can make money from is speaking your mind. And I know that doesn’t really sound like too much of a hobby,
but as it turns out, you really can get paid
for sharing your two cents. Online surveys have become
quite popular in recent years, as companies are always looking for deeper insight into consumer trends. If you want to make money during downtime, like riding a train to work or watching TV in the evening, taking paid online surveys
might be a good way to make extra money with minimal effort. Now, taking online surveys
won’t make you rich, but it can be a fun hobby
to make a little extra cash. One of the most popular
survey sites is Swagbucks. You won’t be able to leave your day job, but it’s an easy way to earn
extra cash in your spare time, up to several hundred dollars a year. They also offer a $10
bonus just for signing up, which we have linked in the
description box down below. Survey Junkie is another well-respected market research company. There’s no charge to sign up, and you’ll receive direct
survey opportunities, which allow you to give feedback on products and services
to a variety of brands. By taking surveys, you’ll
earn free reward points, redeemable over time for cash prizes, such as gift cards or
PayPal direct deposits. Another moneymaking hobby
you can do from home is in web development. To start this hobby, you don’t actually have to be incredibly skilled. You can take an inexpensive and basic web development course online, and then start taking on simple jobs for clients on freelance sites. Start simple and move from there. With every client, you’ll
learn something new. Whether it’s just a hobby or you’re deeply skilled
at web development, you can definitely earn an income by creating and improving
websites for others. And the better you get, the
more you can start charging. A great moneymaking hobby
that you can do for home is blogging or writing. If you enjoy sitting at your computer and sharing and researching on topics that are exciting to you, blogging may be a perfect hobby for you to make extra money. There are even stay-at-home moms who can bring in a couple thousand dollars each month from blogging. As long as you enjoy writing content that you’re passionate about and do the work of finding an audience, you can monetize a blog with ads, affiliate links, or sponsorships. But if you’d rather skip your own blog, there are plenty of other businesses who need content written for them. If you’re skilled at writing and editing, your skills can earn you
money as a freelance writer. Once you have found a few clients and built a portfolio, you
can begin charging more. If you have an eye for detail and natural talent with language, proofreading could be a great
moneymaking hobby for you. As a proofreader, you’ll
look over writing pieces to make sure that the writer
uses a consistent voice, and you’ll also look out for
grammar and spelling errors. If you’re a strong proofreader, you can make some great money, and all from the comfort of your own home, as long as you have an
internet connection. A side hustle in demand
right now is graphic design. Whether a small business needs a new logo or a graphic for a blog post, people will pay for your
creative software design skills. Now it’s not as easy as it looks to create great graphics,
and you’ll be competing against thousands of others for jobs. But if you’re a natural,
or if you’ve taken the time to work on your graphic design skills, you may have a competitive edge. Once you land a few clients, you’ll be in demand while
capitalizing on a hobby that allows you to make money online. You can find these types of jobs on sites like DesignCrowd,
Fiverr, or crowdsourcing. Another high-paying hobby
is in app development. If you have an idea to
sell a useful tool online, or you build an app for someone else, there’s potential to make
serious cash in app development. If you want to get
started with this hobby, but not sure if you
have the right skillset, there are free online courses
that teach app development. A side hustle in high
demand for online businesses is search engine optimization. Search engine optimization is the process of optimizing a website’s content to be found on search engines like Google. For people running online businesses, this is so important to get
traffic to your content. But SEO is just one more
task that business owners can’t add to an already full plate, and that’s what makes this
a great side hustle for you. SEO is a valuable tool
for online businesses, and they’re willing to pay
good money for great expertise. If you can take the time
to really understand SEO and follow the latest algorithm changes, you can make good money with this hobby. If you love social media, being a social media virtual assistant can be a great hobby to make money, and you can even do this from home, which especially makes this a great hobby for women who want to
be stay-at-home moms. Virtual assistants are
used by small businesses, and even larger brands, to complete tasks to keep their businesses growing. Having a social media presence is the key to success. If you’ve mastered a number of
these social media platforms, you may not even have realized that you have the skillset to make money. Turning this hobby into
a moneymaking opportunity is totally possible. If you enjoy teaching people how to do something
correctly with a tutorial, then you can make money from
creating YouTube videos. By creating a tutorial video on how to do something,
like a formula in Excel, you can upload the video to YouTube and get a channel growing. As a YouTuber, you can monetize with ads, sell your own products or
services, and get sponsorships. Of course, the better the content and quality of the videos,
the more likely you are to get more views and make more money. It takes a lot of work to get started, but it can really pay off in the end. If you want to make money
on your own schedule, a great moneymaking hobby
for you could be Lyft. As a driver for Lyft, you get to meet a ton of interesting people, as you drive them from point A to point B, and you get paid weekly. Your earnings are affected
by several factors, including location,
demand, and time of day. And if you enjoy driving,
this can be an easy way to make some extra money
in your spare time. Are you a pet lover? If so, you can make money
hanging out with pets. Your passion for animals can turn into a hobby that makes money. This is what Rover is all about. Rover is a dog walking
and pet sitting website that is always looking
for qualified dog walkers in cities all over the United States. So when you take your own pup on a walk, you can also take a second or third and get paid to do so. 30 minute walks can earn you between 10 to 30 dollars. With a neighborhood route,
that can add up quickly. To get started with Rover, just
fill out a short application and start matching with
pet owners in your area. If fitness is a normal
part of your daily routine and something that you enjoy,
consider making extra cash by teaching others your
favorite fitness activities. If yoga or Pilates is more your style, find a park or community center, where you can charge per-student, and teach a group class. Or if training for marathons or triathlons is how you stay fit, start
a first timers group. There are plenty of people interested in these types of events
who will pay to have a coach or instructor guide
them to the finish line. As a fitness instructor,
your hobby makes money and builds community. It’s for sure a win/win. Another hobby to make money
is coordinating garage sales, and you’re probably like, “Wait, what? “That’s a thing?” And yes, it is. People actually do hire others to coordinate garage sales. Just like people who hire others to do things they can do themselves, like lawn work or cleaning their home, finding someone to run a
garage sale might make sense. Do you enjoy working with others, and you’re skilled with organization? Then you may be interested
in helping someone who wants to have a garage sale by coming in to lead the event. The other perk is that you don’t have an emotional attachment to the items. And if your pay is based
on percentage of sales, you’ll do everything you can to have a successful garage sale. If you’re the first person
your friends or family call when something breaks, then
you probably have the skills to make money as a handyman. Whether that’s painting,
or fixing a railing, hanging a sheet of drywall,
or putting in a new window, a skilled handyman can always find work. Many people don’t have the
time, patience, or ability to tackle even the
smallest household repairs. If you communicate well and
are dependable and efficient, you could cash in on this hobby. My husband loves fixing
things around the house, and he’s found many handyman gigs to do for others around our city. He’s done things like mounting TVs, put together furniture, and
helped with minor car repair. Maybe you’re more of a creative type. You can make money from a
hobby of arts and crafts. You can take hobbies like
painting, making jewelry, developing digital art,
or dipping candles, and start making money. You can take your goods you’ve made to a craft fair or market, or even sell your
products online with Etsy. People find value in handmade goods, and people are always willing
to pay for quality products. You can even create a
downloadable digital product that scales immensely. Some people make thousands of dollars per year selling creative products. If your hobby is shopping,
then thrift shopping may be moneymaking opportunity for you. Stop by your local thrift store to see what gently used brand
name clothes you can find. You can then flip your
purchases and resell them at a profit on websites like
eBay, thredUP, or Poshmark. Just ensure that you understand what name brands and categories
sell for the most money, so your thrift store finds don’t cost you more than what you can sell them for. At the end of the day, you really can make money
doing something you love. By listing out the hobbies you enjoy, brainstorm some ways that
you can make money from it and you’ll be on your way
to paying off more debt or increasing your savings, all without dreading the side
hustle work you’re doing. So what moneymaking hobby
are you planning to start? Let us know in the comments down below. Also, don’t forget to subscribe to the DollarSprout YouTube channel for more money videos, and
